I discovered very early on that simply putting the laptop to sleep and back on (take about 5 seconds with an SSD drive to do so) fixes the pointer ie. Now to move the cursor around I have to apply slightly more pressure BUT atleast it hasn't gone haywire yet and it's been a day. So in the touchpad settings I change the sensitivity (upped it abour 25% and increased the required touchpad pressure about 35% ie.
Still too early to tell if it's a permanent fix BUT I think this might work.Īfter reading all the comments on all these pages I was able to replicate even that "blow some breath on the touchpad" issue where it goes completely berserk and that sort of gave me the idea that the circuit might just be incredibly sensitive. I recently purchased 2 of these laptops (3137) from DFO Australia. As for Synaptic's TPEnh, turning it off in Task Manager not only stops the excessive CPU usage, but also seems to make the touchpad misbehave less - and less often. I had to finally remove it, and use the stock Windows Defender instead. I have a 3135, and to have the touchpad eat 10% CPU is nothing when compared to McAfee eating up 80% of the CPU.
Other computer equipment manufacturers have been successfully challenged in court over their refusal to address and correct manufacturing defects such as these. If anyone who has been affected by this snafu would like to initiate a class-action lawsuit concerning this matter, I would gladly join it as a participant. If your products are experiencing something like this, then why continue to push subsequent models out the door with the same issue? To have so many different Dell models be affected by this yet-to-be-resolved issue is nothing short of inexcusable. Seems like all this has been dragging on for several months now - with little (if any) action from Dell.
